Maisy’s Story

Maisy’s Story ….

Almost ten years ago in the old Pro shop at Thorpe Wood I was introduced to a young lady by her Grandad John Loughland …. her name was Maisy Turnershe was 13 years old.

I could sense straight away Maisy’s enthusiasm for the game , her dedication to improve and be the best she could be.

We started the journey with a mission to go as far as we could by the age of eighteen.

The months and the years flew by as we worked hard every session on improving her skills and knowledge needed to achieve the goals we had set.

With continued support from Mum & Dad , Grandma & Grandad (chauffeur) and also Simon Fitton (free golf & discounted golf equipment) the years flew by as the goals were being met.

In 2013 this young eighteen year old from Market Deeping set off on her own to America’s mid west to start a golf scholarship at the University of Iowa to continue her education and improve her skills even further.

Two more years of hard work followed by some impressive results, Maisy was signed up by one the top golf colleges in Texas , Forth Worth Wesleyan for another two years.

Today … 16th December 2017 Maisy will graduate with distinction having completed her four years on a golf scholarship.

It’s been a heck of a journey of which I’ve enjoyed every minute and it just shows what you can achieve in life with some talent , ambition , support and a load of hard work.

Congratulations Maisy on your big day … nothing short of what you deserve.

Like we always say :

“They might out play us … but they’ll never out work us”
